Break from studying

I need a small break from studying... so here I am writing a xanga entry :) Favorite moment of the day:

Context: I teach the 3-4 year old's at church. We're in between services and I had just come in and all the little kiddies are sitting around the table eating gold fishies and drinking juice. We start talking and I ask him about their past week. Then I get asked...

Josh: Teacher Lydia, do you have kids?
Lydia: (I smile) No, no I don't.
Josh: Why not??
Lydia: (smiles some more, not sure how to respond) Well, you know Josh, you know how you have a mommy and a daddy... (I pause and start to wonder where I'm going with that question). Actually...  I'm too young.

I wait a few more seconds.. and then to try to get myself out of a potentially awkward situation.

Lydia: who wants to read a story?! Let's read a story together!

haha oh kids are so great. They have such an honest and sincere way of asking questions. Some of my other favorite moments: "What's heaven like Teacher Lydia?", "Jesus is GOD! He rose from the dead!", (context of singing songs) "We can't sing 'itsy bitsy spider- it's not a bible song!"

I'm gonna miss the kids this summer ( i'm not teaching... but am resuming in the fall). I hope they remember me! These special moments with the kids really do warm my heart. Oh to have the faith of a little kid. Such faith, hope, and joyfullness.

Spring is here!

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are blooming! With blue skies, and lots of good landscaping (I think that's where most of the tuition is going... or so seems...), Santa Clara's campus is absolutely beautiful. Makes you want to sit outside on the grass, read a good book, or take a nice nap.

And where am I now? Computer lab working on a multiple projects in week 10. That's ok though, I think the nice weather just makes everybody happier:)

Ok, back to work. I heart cost accounting (woooo variances, fixed overhead, joint costs, allocations, and theory of constraints...), writing proposals, reading and writing about how smoking kills you, and studying statistics.

Oh good times

Some recent thoughts

God is good and faithful and loving when I am disobedient and stupid.

I need to learn to have more faith, trust more, and fear less.

Caring too much about what people think is bad. Especially when I feel people more than I fear God.

I get to start serving at PBC with the children's ministry... can't wait to be with the little kiddies :)

Crazy week of midterms and projects coming up... but going to richmond on thursday! :)
